Course Listing

The following are courses that can be scheduled by contacting Nick of Time.

ICS 100 Introduction to the Incident Command System introduces the Incident
Command System (ICS) and provides the foundation for higher level ICS
training. This course describes the history, features and principles, and
organizational structure of the Incident Command System. It also explains the
relationship between ICS and the National Incident Management System (NIMS).

ICS 200 is designed to enable personnel to operate efficiently during an
incident or event within the Incident Command System (ICS). ICS-200 provides
training on and resources for personnel who are likely to assume a supervisory
position within the ICS.

ICS 300 Intermediate ICS for Expanding Incidents

ICS 400 Advanced ICS Command and General Staff - Complex Incidents

ICS 700 This course introduces NIMS and takes approximately three hours to
complete. It explains the purpose, principles, key components and benefits of
NIMS. The course also contains "Planning Activity" screens giving you an
opportunity to complete some planning tasks during this course. The planning
activity screens are printable so that you can use them after you complete the
course.
What will I be able to do when I finish this course?
• Describe the key concepts and principles underlying NIMS.
• Identify the benefits of using ICS as the national incident management model.
• Describe when it is appropriate to institute an Area Command.
• Describe when it is appropriate to institute a Multiagency Coordination System.
• Describe the benefits of using a Joint Information System (JIS) for public
information.
• Identify the ways in which NIMS affects preparedness.
• Describe how NIMS affects how resources are managed.
• Describe the advantages of common communication and information
management systems.
• Explain how NIMS influences technology and technology systems.
• Describe the purpose of the NIMS Integration Center

ICS 800 National Response Plan - This course introduces you to the NRP,
including the concept of operations upon which the plan is built, roles and
responsibilities of the key players, and the organizational structures used to
manage these resources. The NRP provides a framework to ensure that we can
all work together when our Nation is threatened.
The course is designed for DHS and other Federal department/agency staff
responsible for implementing the NRP, as well as State, local and private sector
emergency management professionals.
Purpose of the course is to introduce the NRP, so that students can:
(A) describe the purpose of the NRP,
(B) locate information within the NRP,
(C) describe the roles and responsibilities of entities as specified in the NRP,
(D) identify the organizational structure used for NRP coordination,
(E) describe the field-level organizations and teams activated under the NRP, and
(F) identify the incident management activities addressed by the NRP.

Technical Emergency Response Training The WMD Technical Emergency
Response Training Course is a four-day training course providing an overview of
the terrorist threat and potential targets and seminars in chemical, biological,
radiological, and explosive hazards that may be used as WMD. Responders will
also experience hands-on practical exercises utilizing the responder’s knowledge
and skills in performing decontamination and triage procedures, using survey
and monitoring equipment, and responding to an event with multiple devices. An
ongoing scenario will tie all seminars and hands-on training together, providing
the performance-defensive responder with the ability to identify all areas of
response to a CBRNE event. This course further prepares responders for a
CBRNE incident by providing them the opportunity to practice their knowledge
and skills in the world’s only toxic chemical training facility dedicated solely to
emergency responders – the Chemical, Ordnance, Biological, and Radiological
Training Facility (COBRATF).

AWR 160 WMD Awareness This six-hour training program provides
emergency responders with awareness-level instruction on recognition,
avoidance, isolation and notification techniques in a weapons of mass
destruction (WMD) environment.  The course covers prevention and deterrence
and chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, and explosive (CBRNE) hazards.
The course will be particularly beneficial to those who need an introduction to
WMD training and those who need a refresher.

Exercise Design and Evaluation Course G120 and G130 This course is
designed for emergency management exercise staff to acquire fundamental
knowledge and skills necessary to develop, conduct, evaluate, and follow-up
basic activities and exercises, including exercise orientations, drills, and tabletop
exercises. The content addresses the fundamental requirements of an overall
exercise program and its components. A special emphasis is placed on the
evaluation process and the development of sound evaluation tools to assist
evaluation staff. Participants are challenged to develop, conduct, and evaluate
these activities during the conduct of the course through the use of proficiency
demonstrations.

*The above courses are all POST Board certified courses.

Hospital Decontamination Course This program designed to give hospitals
the basic training needed to deal with the repercussions of a weapons of mass
destruction incident or large scale hazardous materials release involving mass
casualties.
